Nomad made a name for themselves with the ChargeCard, a useful little substitute for a traditional USB cable that’s shaped like a credit card. The even smaller ChargeKey later followed, and now Nomad are preparing a launch for the NomadPlus — a device that cleverly attaches to Apple’s USB wall charger to give it 1500 mAh of backup power when you’re away from a power source.
Despite not packing the biggest battery — its 1500 mAh battery will just about charge 70% on an iPhone 5S — the NomadPlus has been designed to be “a practical upgrade of something you already own”, making it a matter of convenience.
The NomadPlus charges the phone’s battery first, and then moves on to charge its own internal battery — so you won’t be left hanging around either.
It seems logical that those looking for a more heavy-duty power source will opt for battery packs instead, but this looks set to be a useful and convenient addition to the Apple USB charger.
It’s currently only available in the U.S., although Nomad is preparing European and U.K. versions too.
