First Look At Y-cam’s HomeMonitor HD

Y-cam’s Home Monitor HD is a Wi-Fi camera that’s easy to set up anywhere in your home, allowing you to keep an eye on your stuff wherever you are.

Whenever the concept of home surveillance springs to mind, I inevitably start thinking of unaffordable, high-tech and complex setups — a little like the ones you see in the movies.

Well fortunately enough, Y-cam’s HomeMonitor HD is a Wi-Fi camera that’s easy to set up anywhere in your home, allowing you to keep an eye on your stuff wherever you are.

It comes with a bunch of useful features like 7 days worth of free recordings that are kept on the cloud, a wide angle lens capable of recording 720p HD video, night vision and an integrated microphone — all at a price of $199.99/£149.99.

Live footage and recordings can be easily accessed through the browser, but when you’re on the move there are also dedicated HomeMonitor apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. There’s also a version for Roku and Apple TV media streamers too.

In the press release, Devin Chawda, CEO of Y-cam said: “More people are using next gen devices to connect them to the people and places that they care about, and home security is no different. In the next twelve months, every household will be a ‘Connected Home’, and devices like HomeMonitor HD will be part of its foundation.”

I’ll be using the HomeMonitor HD for the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for a review pretty soon.
