If you’ve ever used an SSD (Solid State Drive), you’ll already know just how powerful they are. Samsung‘s newly announced SSD T1 is a sleek-looking, slim and portable SSD that takes top-level performance and wraps it in a portable package the “size of a business card”.

Samsung’s T1 SSD measures in at just 71 x 53.2 x 9.2 mm, which is both smaller in length and width compared to most internal SSDs. It also features AES 256-bit hardware encryption — allowing users to set up login credentials and give an extra layer of protection to the SSD’s data.

When using its USB 3.0 connection (also compatible with USB 2.0), Samsung claim that the T1 can deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 450MB/s, putting it in line with some other high-end internal SSDs. It’s also significantly faster than traditional hard drives, which usually deliver between 10-30MB/s.

The Samsung Portable SSD T1 will be available in three different variants – 250GB, 500GB and 1TB – and will be priced at $179.99, $299.99 and $599.99 depending on the model you go for.
