Google Chromecast Can Now Mirror Android Screen On To TVs

Now with Google’s latest update to the Chromecast app (due to roll out in the next few days), you’ll be able to go a step further and completely mirror what’s your Android device.

When you consider its modest £30 price tag, the Google Chromecast already packs a lot of value for the household media buff. All you need to do is pick up your smartphone, tablet or computer, open a compatible app like Netflix or YouTube and tap on an icon to stream content to your big TV.

It’s so easy, and so very useful.

Now with Google’s latest update to the Chromecast app (due to roll out in the next few days), you’ll be able to go a step further and completely mirror what’s your Android device.

Although the feature is likely to work well for static content like photos and general app use, I’m expecting intensive games and HD video to suffer slightly from lag, particularly as mirroring is still in beta.

Here’s a list of devices that will support Android screen mirroring:

  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 7 (2013)
  • Nexus 10
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 (Google Play Edition)
  • Samsung Galaxy S5
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10
  • HTC One M7
  • HTC One M7 (Google Play Edition)
  • LG G3
  • LG G2
  • LG G Pro 2
  • Support for additional devices coming soon

I’ll be putting the Chromecast through its paces over the next few weeks (thanks to Curry’s for sending it out!), so be sure to subscribe so that you know when it’s live.
