Take a good look at BlueLounge’s selection of products and you’ll notice a common trend — they’re all really well designed and do a fantastic job at keeping your work space efficient and organised.

Keeping in line with that trend, BlueLounge released the Saidoka iPhone dock earlier this year and according to them, it’s the “ideal accessory to help streamline your digital behaviours”.

Available with a black or white gloss finish, the Saidoka caters for both the newer Lightning connector for the iPhone 5, 5C & 5S ($49.95 or £39.95 GBP) and the older 30-pin connector too ($29.95).

Being slanted at the same angle as your keyboard, the idea behind the Saidoka is that it gives you more convenient viewing angles whilst working at your desk. Having used it for a couple of weeks, I can say that it actually helps

Whereas before I’d need to either pick up my phone or crane my neck over it every time I needed to check a notification — the Saidoka dock made my workflow more efficient because it meant I could check my notifications at a glance and carry on with what I was doing.

When it comes to looks, the Saidoka carries that usual BlueLounge simplistic look and feel — you won’t find anything on the dock that shouldn’t be there. The outer layer is covered in a very nice glossy plastic, and inside the docking station you’ll find a smooth feeling rubber bumper to accommodate ‘naked’ iPhones. If you happen to use a case, you simply have to slip out that bumper and dock your iPhone in the same way.

BlueLounge_Saidoka_LetsTalkTechAlthough at first glance it seems light and flimsy, the Saidoka has a good enough density that prevents it from sliding around on your desk.

To help keep it grounded, the dock has a couple of micro-suction rails going across the bottom that help to keep it firmly in place without the use of any adhesive. Unfortunately though, I found that the more I repositioned the dock, the less effective the suction pads became.

Aside from that, my only key criticism of this dock is its price. For an iPhone docking station, I feel like $49.95 is simply too much and were they priced at $29.95 like the 30-pin models, it would have been a much more accessible product to buy.

Leaving price aside, I didn’t come across any surprises with BlueLounge’s Saidoka — it made a good looking addition to my desk setup and does a great job at improving improving my workflow at the same time.
