Logitech’s original Ultrathin keyboard was already impressive with its light weight and compact form factor — gaining a rating of 4.5/5 stars in last year’s review. Today, Logitech announced the newest version of the Ultrathin, this time made for iPad Air and iPad Mini (both the original and Retina).
At 6.4mm thick and 322g, the new Ultrathin keyboard is just over two-thirds the weight of the iPad Air and both thinner & lighter than its predecessor. Logitech have once again created a design that complements the new generations of iPad, as well as keeping that familiar magnetic clip to hook on to the iPad.
The Ultrathin can tilt the iPad’s viewing angle between 50-70 degrees
An annoyance of the original keyboard was that single, restrictive viewing angle which made typing on a lap (or just below eye level) very uncomfortable. Fortunately, that’s something Logitech have tried to fix with a new multi-angle slot that tilts between 50-70 degrees — you simply attach your iPad to the embedded magnetic clip and you can adjust it accordingly.
— It’ll be interesting to see what kind of effect that has on balance.
Logitech also seem to have made better use of the space on the keyboard itself this time round, with less empty space and more iOS-specific function keys available.
The Logitech Ultrathin keyboard is £89.99 for iPad Air and £69.99 for iPad Mini & iPad Mini Retina, and is due in Apple stores from June 2014.
